I never disagreed with that. I was making the point that you can't alter a person's genes and expect them to automatically be great at sports.

physical traits and genetics do matter in sports. that's why certain ethnicities dominate in certain things. things like arm length, body proportions, etc. matter. ofc you also need hard work to foster those physical advantages.
Yes but its like

Talented artist = 10 initial artistic skills

Non talented artist = 1-8 it varies

Those genes do count and dont forget

Talented artist after x years of practice = 50

non talented artist after x years of practice = 10-40

I mean even the process of the development in certain skills might not be the same for example maybe it takes me for 1 days to learn something and the other man learn in between 2 hours.

I don't think its nearly as simple as you're making it out to be. There are dozens of environmental factors that play into it.

I don't really see the problem with this. We already have an astronomical influence on people's lives from their birth to their death, so I don't see why we shouldn't allow people to make changes to their babies before they're born.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Removing health problems is fine but otherwise if you're not happy with what plops out of you naturally I think that's pretty disgusting.

A child isn't a fashion accessory.

I wouldn't object to removing something like freckles though, something a kid might be bullied for that runs in the family that sort of cosmetic stuff is okay I guess.

I don't get why anyone would want to have a child that doesn't at all look like them.
Would definitely want my child to be more successful than me but not by altering how their body will turn out, defeats the point if they don't have to work hard to get to the top.

Should it really matter if someone thinks engineering physically impressive humans is disgusting? I care more that we can create genetically superior humans. You don't have to jump in, but it shouldn't prevent others from doing it.

I find the aspect of purebred dogs to be disgusting since it often includes in-breeding, that doesn't mean it needs to be illegalized.

I don't see why not, people are only interested in purebred dogs because they can either make money off them or they think they're off higher class when actually they more often than not come with tons of health problems due to said in-breeding.

I can see the value to creating superior humans but to actually want your own child and to make it completely different from yourself is wrong as far as I'm concerned, a child is a part of yourself.
At what point when you've created this genetically superior being does it stop really being your child?

Also can you imagine how boring the world would get? Eventually everyone would look almost exactly the same it'd be like if we cloned two perfect specimens over and over and let the rest of us die, the individuality of being a human would be greatly dulled.

It's a pretty slippery slope if we just leave people to it, people wouldn't restrain themselves.
Plus, sounds very sci-fi but with this sort of technology would it not be possible for governments to sneak in some sort of gene to make people more obedient? Eventually mindless drones.

I think we should get a free name change by a certain age, free pass to live where ever we want and it would be awesome if also like a video game we could change how we look.

i don't like my family name, would like to move and would like to change my face a bit.
